Contrary to what you may believe, "We are spiritual beings having a human experience. Not human beings having a spiritual experience!"
This makes sense to me if you believe you are a child of God. I don't know if anyone views God as a human entity. I think it's fair to say, that many of us think God is of spirit form. Therefore, this would mean that we were spirit before we became flesh out of our mother's womb. So... We are spiritual beings having human experiences!
